AI & Medical Disclaimer
Last updated: June 28, 2026
Ask Turtly is an AI-powered care assistant inside Turtly. It answers questions about your turtle or tortoise using the information you’ve logged — your pet’s species, habitat readings, weight, feeding, UVB, and health records — together with general species-care guidance. This page explains what it can and can’t do, so you can use it safely. By using Ask Turtly, you agree to the points below.
1. AI can make mistakes
Ask Turtly is powered by an artificial-intelligence language model. Like all such models, it can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong, even when it sounds confident. Treat its answers as a helpful starting point, not a final authority. For any decision that affects your animal’s health or wellbeing, verify the information independently before acting on it.
2. Not veterinary advice — and not a diagnosis
Ask Turtly provides general husbandry and care guidance only. It is not a veterinarian, it does not examine your animal, and it cannot and does not provide a diagnosis, prognosis, or treatment plan. Nothing it says establishes a veterinarian–client–patient relationship. Information from Ask Turtly is not a substitute for professional veterinary examination, advice, or care.
3. Always consult a reptile vet
For any health concern, illness, injury, or emergency — and always before giving any medication, changing a treatment, or making a significant change to care during illness — consult a qualified reptile (exotics) veterinarian. If your animal shows emergency signs such as open-mouth or labored breathing, severe lethargy, bleeding, a prolapse, an inability to right itself, major swelling, or a prolonged refusal to eat alongside other symptoms, contact a reptile vet right away. When in doubt, see a vet.
4. Answers are only as good as your data
Ask Turtly’s biggest strength — that it knows yourpet — is also its main limit. Its answers are grounded in what you have actually logged. If your records are sparse, stale, or contain a typo, its guidance will be less reliable and may miss important context. Keeping your logs current and accurate makes its answers more useful, but never removes the need for your own judgment and professional care.
5. Use at your own discretion
You are responsible for the care decisions you make for your animals. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Turtly provides Ask Turtly “as is,” without warranties of any kind, and is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from reliance on its output. Your use of Ask Turtly is governed by our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
6. Affiliate links & third-party services
Some parts of Turtly link to third-party services and products. This includes the Emergency Vet page (online reptile-vet chat) and contextual product recommendationsshown at care moments — for example a UVB bulb when yours is due for replacement, or a water test kit, substrate, or calcium supplement. Some of these are affiliate links (including the Amazon Associates program): if you start a service or buy a product through them, Turtly may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes what we recommend — we only point you to things we believe genuinely help you care for your pet. An online consultation is not a substitute for in-person veterinary care; for a true emergency, see a vet in person.
